I placed first in the First Chapter Contest of The League of Utah Writers 2025 contest for the first chapter in Adult Fiction. The piece is the first chapter of Turbulent Waters, a new historical novel I am working on. I also placed third in the new voices division for a creative nonfiction piece titled Twists of Fate.

I just returned from a day at the Cache Valley Chapter's Summer Writers' Symposium. The annual event was held at the Eccles Conference Center on the Utah State University campus. Eighteen professional writers and educators presented at the conference on twenty-eight different subjects. The training rooms were filled with eager participants and knowledgeable presenters—many thanks to the organizers of this superb event.
Now it is a matter of taking all the information and using it to improve my writing.

Thanks to the Brigham City Writers Group, I have new photos to display on my author's website. A big shout out to McKel Jensen, President of Brigham City Writers for making this available to chapter members and to laurenmoldenhauer photo for taking the pictures.

Many years ago, I began a novel set in a faraway place called Candelara. It has evolved over the years, but this is the year I plan to have it ready for an editor. With the help of the Brigham City and Cache Valley writers' groups, I now have direction on how the book should be. The original rough draft was completed over a year ago, but I became aware that serious revisions were needed. I am halfway through those revisions, thanks to the helpful critiques from the Cache Valley group.
Buckle up and hold on. This is the year that The Seer of Candelara-The Light Chronicles emerges from my mind and computer files and finds its way into the hands of an editor and beta readers.
Follow my journey.
